Eastbound Itinerary (Westbound is similar but in reverse order).

 

Day 1                   Arrive Vancouver.

Spend time exploring the city, included in the package is a ticket for the Vancouver Lookout.

Overnight at the Fairmont Waterfront hotel inVancouver,SignatureHarbourview, room only basis.

 

Day 2                   Vancouver to Kamloops, -  GoldLeaf Service

Transfer hotel to station is included.

 

Board the Rocky Mountaineer and feel the excitement as the train pulls out from Rocky Mountaineer Vancouver Station. Pass through the rich farmlands of the Fraser Valley and along the rugged slopes of the Coastal Mountains before entering into spectacular Fraser Canyon. Marvel at the water’s force at Hell’s Gate, the narrowest point of the Fraser River, watch for the two distinct colours of water merging at the meeting of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. The scenery changes dramatically as you pass into Canada’s desert belt before reaching the destination, Kamloops.

 

While onboard the train, relax and enjoy the service and commentary provided by your onboard hosts. Delicious breakfast and lunch selections will be served in the Goldleaf Service dining car. For lunch wines and beer are included in the package

 

Upon arrival in Kamloops, you are transferred to your accommodation by motorcoach.     (As there is no Fairmont Hotel in Kamloops, it will be the best available on the date of arrival). 

 

 

Day 3          Kamloops to Jasper, - GoldLeaf Service

Re-board the Rocky Mountaineer and continue north as the train winds between the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains along the course of theNorth Thompson River. Pass through the Premier Mountain Range, with eleven glacier-topped peaks named after Canada’s early Prime Ministers, and watch out for majestic Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. As you cross the Continental Divide at the Yellowhead Pass you enter spectacular Jasper National Park and approach your days destination, the town of Jasper.

 

Breakfast and lunch are once again served to you in the Goldleaf dining car.

 

Motorcoaches will be standing by to transfer you to your overnight accommodation, which is the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, deluxe room. Evening is at leisure in Jasper.

 

Day 4                    Jasper Sightseeing by motorcoach.

 

Enjoy a morning or afternoon tour of Jasper National Park.

Your half-day sightseeing tour will show you the highlights of Jasper by coach. Visit Pyramid and Patricia Lakes, Maligne Canyon, Athabasca viewpoint and the historic Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, before returning to your Jasper accommodation.

   

 

 

You have the rest of the day to spend at leisure.

 

Day 5                    Icefields Parkway Tour from Jasper to Lake Louise

 

Journey along the Icefields Parkway, one of the world’s most scenic highways. As your motorcoach winds south, you visit Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls before reaching the Columbia Icefield, one of the largest accumulations of snow and ice south of the Arctic Circle. Here you have free time for lunch (not included) and also ride a “Snocoach” to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier, a 5 kilometre (3 mile) round trip journey. Your driver/guide explains how glaciers are formed and points out interesting geological features.

 

 

Continuing south, you pass Peyto Lake and Crowfoot Glacier with a short stop at Bow Lake before arriving at your Lake Louise accommodation in the late afternoon.

Day 6                             Lake Louise to Banff

After a free morning at spectacular Lake Louise, board the motorcoach for the drive to Banff. Discover the natural wonders of Yoho National Park in British Columbia to view the Spiral Tunnels, built by the Canadian Pacific Railway to ease the climb over Kicking Horse Pass. Your tour continues to idyllic Emerald Lake and a fascinating natural rock bridge, before returning to Banff National Park.      

 

 

 

Continue via the Bow Valley Parkway past Castle Mountain to the townsite of Banff, where your tour concludes on arrival at your accommodation in the late afternoon.

Day 7                            Banff toCalgary

 Your motorcoach drive starts inBanffand takes the full day before arrivingCalgary.

It offers insight to the history of Canada’s National Parks, as well as the highlights of the local scenery. Visit the attractions of Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Also included is the Banff Gondola, an eight-minute gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain for 360-degree views of Banff townsite and its surrounding mountains. A gift shop, restaurant and walking track are located at the top of the mountain.

Following free time for lunch (not included) your tour continues to Kananaskis for a 12 minute summit helicopter ride, cost is included.

 

Calgary, arriving in the evening .  Dropped at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel, junior suite, room only basis. Rest of day is free to enjoy the sights and cuisine of the “StampedeCity”.      PicturedCalgaryau Claire Market.

 

Your package includes admission to theCalgaryTower, where you can experience 360-degree views of the city, mountains and plains. As well as the observation terrace and multimedia display, services available include Tops Grill, Panorama Dining Room and a gift store.

 

Day 8                             Onward travel

Own transfer to the airport inCalgaryfor your onward flight.

 

MEALS: Breakfast and lunch is included onboard the Rocky Mountaineer, a meal plan is available including daily breakfast & dinner for an additional charge, please ask for cost.
