Visiting - Perth, York, Wave Rock, Stirling Range, Albany, Pemberton and Margaret River

Wave Rock, Western Australia.



Day 1 Friday.                                         Hong Kong to Perth  



Depart Hong Kong by air.



Day 2 Saturday.                                    Perth.



Morning at leisure in Perth, then go to car rental offie to pick up  car or campervan, as chosen.


Rest of day at leisure to plan your next few days itinerary..           


Hotel: The Melbourne       



Day 3 Sunday.                                          In Perth.



Another day is allowed in the city of Perth to allow you to get used to the car and the driving signs.


Also to see the various flora and fauna of Australia.


Overnight at the Melbourne Hotel.



 Day 4 Monday.                                     Perth to York.

Depart Perth and travel along the Great Eastern Highway to the historic town of York, Western


Australia's oldest and most historic inland settlement, with many fine old   buildings. Continue via Quairading through wheat belt country to Hyden.


Hotel: Wave Rock Motel.







 Day 5 Tuesday                                        York to Albany.



During the morning visit Wave Rock, one of nature's great wonders. Also see Gnamma Hole and Bates Cave, on the walls of which are handprints in the stone, said to be those of Mulka the Terrible, who according to legend terrorised the local aborigines killing and eating them, one of his victims being his own mother. Continue south via Lake Grace to the spectacular Stirling Ranges National Park. Bluff Knoll, the highest point in the Ranges, is the only place in Western Australia where snow sometimes falls. Overnight in Albany, scene of the first European settlement in Western Australia.

Day 6 Wednesday.                                  Albany.



 Albany is two years older than Perth and much of its pioneer history has been  preserved. Australia's last whaling station ceased operation here in 1978 and there is a rugged and very beautiful coastline.


The town still has a wonderful colonial style, as can be evinced by the Empire Building and the very decorartive roundabout in front of it.


Overnight in Albany, Flinders Park lodge.






Day 7 Thursday.                                   Albany to Manjimup.

Leaving Albany pass through the attractive riverine town of Denmark and later visit   "Winniston Park" with its interesting collection of antiques. Enter the tall timber area known as the "Valley of the Giants" and at Pemberton visit the Gloucester Tree, (Pictured right) a fire spotting lookout tree which the energetic can climb to a height of 61 meters above the highway. Continue to Manjimup for overnight.

Hotel: Dingup House B&B 









Day 8 Friday.                                  Manjimup to Margaret River           



 Drive to Alexandra Bridge in time for the river ferry "Jewel Cave".


Stay overnight in  picturesque vineyard country at Margaret River.

Day 9 Saturday.                             Margaret River to Perth

Continue north via Canal rocks along the coastline to Busselton and Bunbury, Western Australia's second city, to Perth.


Hotel: The Melbourne 







 Day 10 Sunday.                              Perth                              



Surrender the self-drive car or camper van at the airport. Depart Perth by air Arrive Hong Kong
