DAILY ITINERARY

 

Day 1              Vancouver.                                                                                            (No meals)

Explore the vibrant waterfront area or enjoy a walk through Stanley Park, or other areas of the city. Included in this offer is admission to The Lookout, atop Vancouver Harbour Centre, with spectacular views of the city, mountains and ocean.

 

Overnight at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Gallery room.                  

 

 

Day 2              Vancouver to Whistler.                                                                            (B; L)

Picked up from your hotel for the complimentary transfer to the station, board the Rocky Mountaineer. Enjoy viewing the spectacular scenery as the train makes its way up the scenic coastline to Whistler on the section of line called Sea to Sky climb.

NOTE Red leaf service only is provided on this short section Vancouver - Whistler (about a 4 hour journey).

 

Upon arrival you will be taken to the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre for a lunch followed by a short tour.

Your luggage (2 pieces) will be delivered directly to the Hotel; you can take an overnight/carry-on case on board with any items you may need on the train.

 

The remainder of the day is for you to spend at leisure in Whistler. Dinner for own account

 

Overnight at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Deluxe slopeside room.

 

 


Day 3   Whistler to Quesnel                                                        (B; L)

Re-board the Rocky Mountaineer and take breakfast on in the dining room, enjoy the added comforts and amenities of GoldLeaf Service, including dining in the GoldLeaf dining room, with complimentary wines &  beers for lunch, as the train takes makes its way to Quesnel through the wonderful Rockies scenery.

 

On arrival Quesnel, you will be taken to the Hotel, (as there are no Fairmont Hotels in Quesnel, it will be the best available at time of travel).

 

The remainder of the day is for you to spend at leisure in Quesnel. Dinner for own account.         Overnight at Quesnel.

 

 

Day 4                    Quesnel to Jasper                                         (B; L)

Re-board the Rocky Mountaineer and take breakfast on in the dining room, Goldleaf Service, as the train makes its way to Jasper.

 

Upon arrival you will be taken to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, deluxe room.

 

Your luggage will be delivered to the Hotel.

 

Day 5                   Jasper                                                                                                (No meals)

This morning there is a scenic tour of Jasper National Park. After this you will be returned to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge for another overnight in Jasper.

Rest of day at leisure, overnight at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

 


Day 6                    Jasper by motorcoach to Lake Louise.                                       (No meals)

This morning you board a coach for the journey to Lake Louise by way of the Icefields Parkway Highway, one of the most scenic highways in the world.

 

Among the highlights along the highway are the Athabaska Falls, where there will be a short stop, to see the falls. Onwards to the Columbia Icefield, where you will take a short trip onto the glacier in an ice-explorer, a specially adapted motorcoach to run on the glacier ice.  The Icefield is one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle in addition to being one of the most accessible ones in North America.

 

Then drive past Peyto Lake, with a short stop at Bow Lake as the Parkway highway passes along its shoreline.

 

Arrive Lake Louise, transfer to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, deluxeLakeview room.

 


Day 7                   Lake Louise to Banff                  (No meals)

Enjoy the morning at leisure in Lake Louise. This afternoon board the motor coach for the trip to Banff. This journey detours to take you into Yoho National Park, a short stop at the Spiral Tunnels, a unique railway feature on the line and on to Emerald Lake for a short stop, then onto Banff.

 

On arrival dropped at the Fairmont Banff Springs, deluxe room.


Day 8         Banff.                                                                                       (No meals) 

Today is a full day on your own to exploreBanffand the area – why not take the Banff Gondola ride or just wander about the town or in the Banff National Park areas.

 

Again, overnight at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, deluxe room.

 

Day 9                  Banff to Kamloops.                                                                             (B, L)

Board the Rocky Mountaineer this morning for breakfast and the train ride to Kamloops. First, you will travel through Rockies and Rogers Pass with its tunnels, glistening glaciers, and snow capped-vast ranchlands to reach Craigellachie pass where the "last spike" was driven completing the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885. The train will travel through the unique Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park, a remarkable engineering achievement.

 

On arrival Kamloops transfer to the hotel, as there is no Fairmont Hotel, you will be allocated the best available Hotel on the date.

 

 

Day 10      Kamloops toVancouver.                     (B, L)

In the morning board the train for breakfast and the last leg of the train ride back to Vancouver. Upon leaving Kamloops, the railway follows the Thompson River down to the Frazer Canyon, one of the highlights of today's journey is watching water torrent past the Fraser Canyon's walls at Hell's Gate, the canyon's narrowest point.   

 

On arrival in Vancouver you will be transferred to the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Rest of day at leisure, for a leisurely walk around this city.

 

Overnight in Vancouver at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Gallery room.
